Join Celiac Disease Awareness Month: Events and Resources

May is Celiac Disease Awareness Month, and I’ll be using this month to raise awareness, share reliable information, and celebrate the gluten-free lifestyle with you. Whether you live with celiac disease, care for someone who does, or simply want to learn more, I hope these activities will inform, support, and inspire.

Below is what I’ll be sharing every week throughout May to mark Celiac Disease Awareness Month:

Awesome Giveaways:

Managing a gluten-free diet can be both time-consuming and expensive. Many of us face higher grocery bills, limited product availability, and the challenge of finding trusted brands. To help, I’ll be running weekly giveaways that highlight excellent gluten-free brands, useful tools, and resources to make everyday life easier. These giveaways are meant to introduce you to helpful products and to ease the cost of keeping a safe, gluten-free kitchen.

To enter the giveaways and stay updated on each week’s prize, follow along on social media and watch for the giveaway posts. Winners will be announced on those platforms. The giveaways are also a great way to discover new products and to learn more about what works for other people living gluten-free.

Celiac Disease Awareness & Education:

Celiac disease is an autoimmune, genetic condition in which gluten triggers damage to the small intestine. For people with celiac disease, following a strict gluten-free diet is the only effective treatment currently available. Unfortunately, awareness remains limited; more than 80% of people with celiac disease are thought to be undiagnosed. That statistic highlights how important it is to share accurate information with family, friends, employers, and healthcare providers.

Throughout May I’ll post clear, approachable educational materials designed for sharing. These will include printable handouts explaining what celiac disease is, tips for safe cross-contamination practices, guidance for dining out, and suggestions on how loved ones can offer meaningful support. My goal is to make it easier for you to communicate your needs and to help others understand why a gluten-free lifestyle isn’t a preference but a medical necessity for those with celiac disease.

If you’re a parent, caregiver, teacher, or coworker of someone with celiac disease, expect practical resources that you can use right away. I’ll focus on realistic, everyday strategies—meal planning, labeling, grocery shopping tips, and how to approach social situations like potlucks or shared kitchens.

Gluten-Free Recipes:

Food is central to any culture, and keeping meals delicious and satisfying while gluten-free makes living with celiac disease more joyful. Each Friday in May I’ll share a new gluten-free recipe, created or adapted to be both flavorful and approachable. Recipes will include clear ingredient lists, substitution ideas, and tips for avoiding cross-contamination in the kitchen.

Expect a variety of options—from simple weeknight dinners and family-friendly favorites to treats that make celebrations feel special. I’ll aim to provide recipes that use accessible ingredients, save time, and allow room for substitutions based on what you have at home.

Throughout the month I’ll also highlight community voices and lived experiences—stories from people navigating diagnosis, managing family life, cooking for kids, and advocating for greater awareness. Sharing these perspectives helps build understanding and reminds us that we’re not alone in this journey.

I’m excited to spend May connecting, educating, and celebrating with you. Follow along for giveaways, educational handouts, and Friday recipes, and please share resources with friends and family to help spread awareness about celiac disease. Together we can make a difference in understanding, diagnosis, and everyday support for the gluten-free community.
