Chai Spice Smoothie
There’s a café near my house that serves unforgettable smoothies and spiced lattes, and one of their seasonal offerings was a chai smoothie I couldn’t stop thinking about. After refining my own Chai Spice Blend, I set out to recreate a version you can easily make at home.
This Banana Chai Spice Smoothie keeps things simple: no mushroom adaptogens or hard-to-find ingredients, just wholesome, plant-forward ingredients that blend into a cozy, chai-flavored drink. It’s naturally sweet, slightly frosty when made with frozen banana, and subtly spiced thanks to the chai mix.
If you don’t have a chai spice blend on hand, consider preparing one for easy use in smoothies, muffins, breads, and pies — it’s a versatile pantry staple that elevates many baked goods and beverages.

Ingredients
- Frozen banana – Using a frozen banana gives the smoothie a thick, frosty texture. If you don’t have frozen banana, use a fresh one and add a few ice cubes to chill and thicken the drink.
- Frozen riced cauliflower – This adds body and fiber without noticeable flavor. Use plain riced cauliflower, not a seasoned blend.
- Medjool date – Adds natural sweetness. Use one date, or two for a sweeter smoothie. You can also substitute maple syrup or honey if you prefer.
- Chai spice mix – Adds the warm, spicy chai notes that make this smoothie special. A teaspoon is usually enough; adjust to taste.
- Milk of your choice – Any milk works: dairy, almond, oat, or other plant milks. Choose your favorite for flavor and creaminess.

Pro Tip
If you make smoothies often, peel and freeze ripe bananas in advance. Pop them into the freezer in individual portions so they’re ready whenever you want a quick, frosty smoothie.
Instructions
1. If using a Medjool date, remove the pit before blending—this prevents jamming the blender.
2. Add all ingredients to a blender. A single-serve or high-speed blender works well.
3. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides if needed. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.
